The members of the board of the foundation "Stichting Vluchtelingen Werkintegratie" each have a unique background and a common goal: to offer opportunities to those who have had to leave their home country in search of safety and a better life. They founded the foundation with the conviction that everyone deserves a chance to build a meaningful life and contribute to society. While working and volunteering in various reception locations, our founders saw up close the challenges faced by refugees and asylum seekers. The lack of access to the labor market, language barriers and a lack of understanding of Dutch (work) culture were significant obstacles. This inspired them to set up an organization that not only offers support, but also offers practical solutions to overcome these obstacles.
We want to be present in every AZC, regular and emergency shelter location. Our goal is to have 1 volunteer per location who will act as a point of contact and can/will carry out the activities. This volunteer is a resident of the reception location. So a refugee or an asylum seeker. From the "Stichting Vluchtelingen Werkintegratie" we will train, educate and supervise this volunteer, allowing this volunteer to gain valuable knowledge and experience, so that they can find a job more easily later. The work is similar to that of a recruiter, for whom there are many open vacancies. Appointing a volunteer as a recruiter is beneficial for the volunteer, but also has major advantages for the asylum seekers at the reception location. They have a fixed point of contact who can speak to them from their own experience. This volunteer is part of the same group and culture and may therefore be able to achieve more than just an “outsider”.
Free or subsidized Dutch language and culture lessons and workshops about the labor market, (work) culture and manners help to effectively prepare refugees, asylum seekers and status holders for their integration and participation in the Dutch labor market.
Workshops for application techniques and interviewing skills, plus free or affordable certifications, increase job opportunities and successful integration of refugees, asylum seekers, and status holders.
Intensive guidance when starting a new job is crucial. Personal mentoring and coaching are essential to adapt and successfully integrate, taking into account the experiences of the employee, colleagues and supervisor. The more guidance in the beginning, the greater the chance of a sustainable working relationship.
Volunteers who work in an AZC, CNO, or central office can act as interpreters for the foundation's work-related activities. This includes, for example, supporting intake interviews with potential employers, employment agencies and other parties involved. These activities are only carried out from the refugee location or online, and never physically at other locations, to ensure the volunteer's privacy; this is in line with the way Vluchtelingenwerk Nederland works.
Together, we are building an inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and grow. Join us and make a difference!
Company visits provide refugees and asylum seekers with direct knowledge of the Dutch work culture and business processes, allowing them to better understand what is expected of them and to adapt more quickly. In addition, they can build networks and meet potential employers, which increases their chances of successfully integrating into the labor market.
Cooperation with local authorities, companies, educational institutions and social organizations is essential for the integration and economic independence of refugees, asylum seekers and status holders. These partnerships enable our foundation to provide a holistic approach that promotes both the professional and social integration of newcomers.
Join our team of volunteers and help support refugees, asylum seekers and status holders in their integration into the Dutch labor market. You'll receive training, guidance and valuable experience that you can use later in your future career.
